Sitting Increases All-Death Mortality

Sitting Increases All-Death Mortality

“Studies have shown that adults spend about half of their time at work and even more sitting.” A number of studies demonstrate that sitting increases the risks of obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality (dying from anything). “Recent emerging findings have shown that breaking up sedentary time potentially has a beneficial impact on cardiovascular health (independent of total sedentary time and moderate-to-vigorous intensity activity).”

If you have to sit, particularly at work, get up every once in a while and do something physical. Take a walk, take the stairs, lift some light weights, do something to get your body moving.  It only takes a few minutes and it could extend your health (and life) for many years.
