Dr. Darian J. Smith

Darian J. Smith, DC, also known around the office as “Dr. DJ”, is a Kernersville native. He graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1999 where he was involved in athletics as a member of the baseball team. Dr. DJ then attended North Carolina State University graduating in 2003 with a degree in Biological Sciences.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Dr DJ moved to Seneca Falls, NY where he completed his course work in chiropractic attending New York Chiropractic College. He graduated in 2007 as a Doctor of Chiropractic. In 2007, Dr. DJ gained valuable clinical experience while working at the Depew Health Center in Buffalo, NY before moving back to Kernersville, NC.

In Kernersville, Dr. DJ joined alongside his father as an associate Doctor of Chiropractic. Dr. DJ has worked at Kernersville Chiropractic Center since January 2008. Dr. DJ enjoys the outdoors. He is an avid trail runner; having completed numerous trail marathons and ultra-marathons. Dr. DJ also enjoys playing guitar, going car camping, running with his dog, and spending time with his wife and children.

Valerie Johnson – Office Manager

Valerie is our office manager. She joined our team after graduating from GTCC’s Medical Office Administration program in 2016. She received an Associate’s Degree and is certified in Electronic Forms Filing. She will do her best to answer any questions you may have and work with your schedule. She enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband and two sons.

 

Jennifer Philyaw – Office Assistant

Jennifer was our Office Manager for over 15 years. She joined our team just after she graduated ECPI’s Medical Office Administration program in 2001. She is a certified Medical Office Assistant and an Insurance & Coding Specialist. Jennifer enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.  After being away for 6 years, raising her 3 children and running family businesses, she has returned part-time to assist in the office. She is excited to be back and see familiar faces at the office.

 

 

Dr. Darian L. Smith – Retired

Darian L. Smith was born in Murphy N.C. and graduated from Wake Forest University in 1974 with a Bachelor’s degree in experimental psychology along with pre-med sciences . He received a Masters of Science in Industrial psychology from N.C. State University.

After some years working as an industrial consultant, he moved to St. Louis to help Logan Chiropractic School start their Ergonomics, Science and Research Center. While there, he enrolled in the school and graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1992. He moved his family back to N.C. and began a chiropractic practice in Kernersville in 1993.

With his loving wife, Maria Eugenia, as office manager, they grew the practice and raised both a son, Darian Justin, and a daughter, Genevieve. Both children were taught to aim high and serve mankind to the best of their abilities. They are now both chiropractic physicians.

Dr. Smith enjoys hiking, camping, and playing flute or piano. He also enjoys playing disc golf.

He is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and the North Carolina Chiropractic Association.

In addition, to being on staff at Logan Chiropractic College for 4 years, he has also done industrial consulting for major companies like:

  • Monsanto Corporation
  • Hallmark Cards

In addition to industrial consulting, Dr. Smith also assists athletes and businesses to achieve…OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE. Dr. Smith is a member of the North Carolina Chiropractic Acupuncture and Meridian Therapy Council. He is currently retired from the office that he started, handing the reins to his son.
